Important Dates
- October 1- Total # of Thespys much be registered and paid with Festival Registration
-November 1- Individual Thespy information and requirements must be turned in via link below
(Thespys without all required information turned in by November 1 will be dropped...no refunds will be given)


Guidelines
1.     Only the total number of your Thespy events need to be entered at the same time as your troupe’s registration for the festival. The specific information regarding the event (titles, authors, etc.) can be submitted later.
2.     All Thespys must be registered though an online form found on the Kansas Thespians website. All information must be submitted; including student names, titles, authors/composers/lyricists and event type. All Musical Theatre events must include the show title AND the song title. The submission form will be available from October 1st through November 1st.
3.     Each event is $25. If it is a duet or group event, Kansas Thespians only needs one registration with all the participants’ names and one entry fee. For example, if you are submitting 3 monologues, 2 duet acting, 1 group musical, you only need to pay for 6 events.
4.     Each student can only participate in one Thespy at the Kansas Thespian Festival.
5.     You need to submit event information for each event entered.
6.     All Thespy Event information will be entered through an online application called Open Water. On October 1st, a link to register events will be located below and sent to sponsors as well.
7.     All registrations must be completed by November 1st. Any incomplete registrations will be disqualified.
8.     Event materials MUST be from a published play or musical.  Please check this Approved Publishers List to see if your event requires royalties.  Any royalty fees for Thespys need to be paid to the publisher prior to submitting your Thespy information.
9.     The Thespy schedule with specific event times will be released on December 1st.
10.  Students are not required to stay in their event room for the entire competition. However, they are welcome to observe any event, as long as they enter the room BEFORE a performance/presentation has begun.
11.  State Board Members will be monitoring each event door for appropriate entrances and exits. As well as keeping time for all events.
12.  It is strongly suggested that all students arrive to their event at least 15 minutes prior to their scheduled time.
13.  Each room featuring Musical Theatre will have a Blue Tooth speaker with auxiliary cord.
14.  Student ratings (Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair) are determined by averaging the scores from all 3 judges.
15.  Any Thespian(s) who receives a Superior rating will qualify to compete at the International Thespian Festival.
16.  Students who qualify for the International Thespian Excellence Awards are required to perform the same piece at the International Thespian Festival.
17. There is a new category this year, Playwrighting.  This event will take the place of the event formerly known as "playworks"
